xTrack WMS FO Android – FO android app for WMS
Axes Software has achieved another important goal: the creation of the xTrack WMS FO Android app, one of the objectives stated in the project co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Competitiveness Operational Programme 2014-2020, “Innovative platform for artificial intelligence management of work processes in factories and warehouses” (project code 129490). As the name suggests, the software solution is an Android FO app for WMS (Warehouse Management App for Android), running on mobile devices or smartphones with this operating system.
What is an Android FO app for WMS?

The Android FO app for WMS is the second component of the xTrack WMS system and was developed for two main reasons:
In this context, it is also worth mentioning that in addition to the Android FO app for WMS, Axes Software has also developed a FO version of the same type for the xTrack POD (Proof of Delivery) software solution, which runs on drivers’ mobile phones. This gives drivers quick access to the data of the trips they have to make. It allows them to view the routes on the map and confirm each completed activity, reporting thus to managers in real time the status of goods deliveries from the time they leave the warehouse until the last parcel is delivered.
The use of an Android app for WMS or POD allows direct access to the functions of mobile computers and smartphones: gyroscope, microphone and speakers (used, for example, for pick by voice technology integration), video camera (for taking pictures of items and storing them in the xTrack WMS app database, reading barcodes, Data Matrix or QR, etc.). It also provides access to device logs (useful in some customer interaction reports), or GPS (necessary for routes, location).
Description of xTrack WMS FO Android app
Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices and phones based on the Linux kernel, originally developed by Google and later by Open Handset Alliance.
With the development of the Android FO version, the Axes Software team aimed to provide customers with the ability to use the xTrack WMS application in the field (off-premise), i.e. to perform tasks and execute various additional functions on devices that are easy to handle.
The components of the xTrack WMS system have been adapted so that warehouse users can benefit from all the functionalities they need so as to perform their tasks on their mobile devices.
The app is easy to install and use – it has an intuitive layout showing the available options, with windows that allow warehouse workers to use the app without having to read the user manual in detail. The Android version also allows users to work as soon as they log in, without wasting time, and has settings which enable them to configure their windows (font size, color theme, etc.). xTrack WMS FO Android does not use WMS server resources and can also be used offline, with some autonomy.
In addition to setting up windows, the Android app that is used on mobile devices automatically fills in and collects data, and automatically controls the order in which tasks are to be completed – a user cannot proceed to complete a task unless they have completed the previous one.

The most important benefit is that of increased warehouse workers’ productivity. They no longer have to travel unnecessarily around the warehouse to receive instructions, and this is reflected in a much higher proportion of their working time being used to complete their tasks.
